It's going to near 70 degrees in Boston today - for the first time since last November. This type of "warm up" usually has us Bostonians participating in all sorts of premature lunacy. Like wearing t-shirts and flip flops and eating lunch outside. For me, the thought of summer being around the corner gets me excited for one thing - the introduction of Summer Seasonal beers. One of my favorites is the Summer Wheat that
Buzzards Bay Brewery releases. Wifey and I stumbled into Buzzards Bay Brewery during a brewery tour over the summer of 2007. Located on 140 acres of farm land in Westport MA, BBB operates out of a barn, and I mean that literally. The Russell Family purchased the historical Long Acre Farm in 1982 and declared they would use it for agricultural products (including food, wine and beer) and for education (about the value of working natural resources). The family also owns the
Westport River Winery, which is just down the road from BBB. Both are worth checking out, provided you have a designated driver to take you back home. Or you can do what we did and sober up by taking a nice long nap at Horseneck Beach, which is also in the area.
