This may be old news to current parents, but since Wifey and I are still a couple of months away from figuring this parenting thing out, this was an extremely exciting development for us. The FAO Schwartz NYC store offers children of all ages the opportunity to build their own Muppet "whatnots" (the name used to refer to all of the generic Muppet extras that have been featured in segments over the years). Custom Whatnots start at about $100-130 and can range based on all the different elements you want to add to your little pretend friend (eyes, nose, clothes, etc.) On a somewhat related note, these dudes are my favorite all time Muppets...still cracks me up after all these years:
