The Tides at Zihuatanejo, Mexico

In the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne instructs his longtime jail mate Red to join him in a magical place called Zihuatanejo once they are both freed of their sentences.  Red is quick to brush this aside as another one of Andy's false hopes. Hope, as many of the residents of Shawshank would tell you, is a dangerous thing.  Yet, in one of filmmaking's most poignant moments, Red makes good on his promise by strolling along a spectacular white sand beach & sparkling turquoise ocean to finally reunite with, and embrace his friend Andy.  This scene alone had always inspired me to someday make my own way to Zihuatanejo, in the hopes that I would find my own tranquil corner of the world where nobody could find me.

The Tides at Zihuatanejo sounds exactly like the sort of place where I would like to get lost for several weeks.  This luxury resort in Mexico's Ixtapa region on the Pacific Coast features thirty five unique rooms and suites that sit amidst lush tropical gardens.  All rooms feature a private terrace or balcony and garden or bay views, while suites include private outdoor infinity pools. I hope to go here someday.  "I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope..."
