Natacha Atlas: Mounqaliba Remixes

Globally celebrated singer Natacha Atlas is the very definition of world fusion. Natacha was born to a father of Moroccan, Egyptian & Palestinian ancestry.  Her mother was a Brit who had converted to Islam. While she grew up in the predominantly Moroccan neighborhood of Laken in Brussles, Belgium - Natacha went on  to live in Northampton England with her mother after her parents had separated. She speaks several languages including Arabic, French, English and Spanish.

It is with this backdrop that Nathacha has achieved worldwide success, first as a vocalist with London-based Transglobal Underground, and then as a solo artist. Her most recent release, Mounqaliba, was quite the production - recorded with a 20-piece Turkish ensemble and a chamber orchestra, integrating western and Arabic styles. The Mounqaliba Remixes pay homage to one of the most distinctive and beautiful voices in modern music. Renowned producers like Nickodemus, Cheb i Sabbah, Bombay Dub Orchestra and Kaya Project take Natacha's latest work into new directions ranging from lush ambient journeys to dynamic rhythmic explorations.
