A little more than a year ago, I stumbled across Limachips Press + Consulting; an independent book publisher that produces fiction, cookbooks, music guides, and essay collections. The website also houses a section of streaming DJ sets by a group of Limachips Resident Djs. It was through Limachips I had first learned of Dj Carol C and her cool blend of funk, soul, house, world, and R&B. Turns out, Carol C's musical skills go well beyond spinning 12 inches of vinyl; Carol C also provides lead vocals for the NYC-based group Si*Se, a very "Norah Jones meets Thievery Corporation" type of band. In October 2005, Si*Se released "More Shine," the follow up to their 2003 self-titled debut album. It's funky. It's chill. It's hip. It's Si*Se, y'all!
