[ipod] numark idj mixer
Ah, my first iPod doohickey post (alas, it was only a matter of time). I am not a Dj, nor do I aspire to be one. I firmly believe a true Dj should be familiar with the touch of vinyl on his or her fingers. While I think I have a pretty good ear for music, I wouldn't know the first damn thing about spinning tunes to a live audience. But if I were to take on a side gig as a Dj, the Numark iDj Mixer is the first thing I would equip myself with (as well as two 60G iPods to accompany it). The iDj appears to be the first iPod mixer on the market , so the specs are pretty basic. USB connectivity for music upload, 3 band EQ, phono line inputs for additional devices, on board iPod navigation controls (ie: larger iPod click wheel on the device itself) and a pretty basic and intuitive design for schmucks like myself who like to spin indoors to a live audience of 2 cats and a plant. One major function that appears to be missing from the iDj are pitch controls (a pretty big oversight, I think). Nonetheless, a fun device to have around if you like to throw parties at the pad and have friends bring over their Pods (the iDj has universal docks, meaning it can work with the whole family of Pods). Somewhere, Todd Terry is turning in his grave. What? He's still alive? Sorry -um, loved the EBTG "Missing" remixes, mate.
